Cast Drawing #4: This was the most challenging for me, mostly because of the cylinder that the hand is holding. It took me re-drawing it several times to finally get it right, but I’m happy with the outcome.

Cast Drawing #3: I did Cast Drawings 2-4 in one day. With each one I felt like my ability to see the shapes and guess the dimensions got more accurate and precise each time. With each drawing I became more confident and quick — I didn’t feel like I had to measure every little thing over and over to get it right.

This is the second cast drawing I’ve done for The Bridge. I feel like this one was more successful than my first cast drawing (as far as the assignment guidelines go), because I was able to step back and not focus on the values, but only on the large shapes of the main shadows.

One of my classes at the Bridge is a head drawing class. Last night we started week one of a two week drawing. This first week we were supposed to focus on getting all the proportions correct and blocking out the basic shapes, rather than getting into too much detail. I’ll post a final picture next week.

As part of the curriculum at the Bridge, we are required to do cast drawings. Here’s the first of who knows how many. The assignment was to draw in two values: the color of the paper, and value.
